Added May 27, 2014
Updated 20 Oct 00:45 CEST
Shader used: SweetFX 1.5
Preset description:
v1.2 Small tweaks in technicolor and lumasharpen, add chromatic aberration and border. v1.1 More natural colors. DOWNLOAD LINK: (SweetFX files by Omnipotus) With letterbox http://www27.zippyshare.com/v/13284374/file.html Without letterbox http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/75976122/file.html In game brightness - 100. TURN OFF DPX IF THE GAME ITS TO DARK ON YOUR SCREEN! Without DPX game have less contrast. You can add more curves (#define Curves_contrast) or turn on DPX again, but with less blend (#define Blend). With this preset the game is a little darker, but on a properly calibrated screen, everything is visible. DONT FORGET TO CLOSE FRAPS ETC BEFORE START THE GAME! Enjoy :) Check out my artworks: www.facebook.com/PiterqDesign

/*-----------------------------------------------------------. / Choose effects / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ // Set to 1 for ON or 0 for OFF #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 0 //[0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the SMAA technique. #define USE_FXAA_ANTIALIASING 0 //[0 or 1] FXAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the FXAA technique #define USE_CA 1 //[0 or 1] Chromatic aberration. You can only use Chromatic Aberration OR the Explosion Shader. Not both at the same time. #define USE_EXPLOSION 0 //[0 or 1] Explosion : Scatters the pixels, making the image look fuzzy. #define USE_CARTOON 0 //[0 or 1] Cartoon : "Toon"s the image.(Interferes with SMAA, CRT, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen) #define USE_LEVELS 0 //[0 or 1] Levels : Sets a new black and white point. This increases contrast but causes clipping. Use Curves instead if you want to avoid that. #define USE_ADVANCED_CRT 0 //[0 or 1] Advanced CRT : Simulates an old CRT TV display. Set gaussian blur along with it to get a halation effect #define USE_BLOOM 1 //[0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_HDR 0 //[0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1 //[0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that. #define USE_GAUSSIAN 1 //[0 or 1] Gaussian Blur : can be used to... blur, but also bloom/hazy/glowy look, also unsharp masking #define USE_FILMGRAIN 0 //[0 or 1] Filmgrain effect #define USE_TECHNICOLOR 1 //[0 or 1] TECHNICOLOR : Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4) #define USE_DPX 1 //[0 or 1] Cineon DPX : Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor. #define USE_MONOCHROME 0 //[0 or 1] Monochrome : Monochrome makes the colors disappear. #define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 0 //[0 or 1] Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (avoids clipping) #define USE_TONEMAP 1 //[0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping) #define USE_VIBRANCE 1 //[0 or 1] Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation. #define USE_CURVES 1 //[0 or 1] Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves. #define USE_SEPIA 0 //[0 or 1] Sepia : Sepia tones the image. #define USE_VIGNETTE 1 //[0 or 1] Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. May cause banding artifacts. #define USE_DITHER 0 //[0 or 1] Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by Vignette) #define USE_BORDER 1 //[0 or 1] Border : Makes the screenedge black as a workaround for the bright edge that forcing some AA modes sometimes causes. #define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0 //[0 or 1] Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode. #define USE_CUSTOM 0 //[0 or 1] Custom : Write your own shader by editing custom.h, and then enable it here. /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / SMAA Anti-aliasing settings / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define SMAA_THRESHOLD 0.04 //[0.05 to 0.20] Edge detection threshold. (software version doesn't matter) if so this needs to be 1 - If not, leave it at 0. //Enable this only if you use a Geforce 7xxx series or older card, or a Radeon X1xxx series or older card. /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / FXAA Anti-aliasing settings / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define FXAA_QUALITY__PRESET 39 //[1 to 39] Choose the quality preset. 39 is the highest quality. #define fxaa_Subpix 0.1 //[0.000 to 1.000] Choose the amount of sub-pixel aliasing removal. #define fxaa_EdgeThreshold 0.01 //[0.000 to 1.000] Edge detection threshold. @devil1243 I realize this is an old thread but do you recall how you got it to work with RadeonPro? I applied the settings to the exe but nothing happens in game.

Please can you update preset to work with Sweetfx 1.5.1

* LumaSharpen in 1.5 still had some experimental code activated when it should not have. Fixed that
* Changed some code and settings to workaround a bug in SweetFX Configurator. The configurator should now work fine with SweetFX 1.5.1
* The Custom shader now have some more interesting example code that inverts the luma of the image, and it now has an example setting

@EroticSushi
Sorry dude but mine was customised to suit my LG 22MP65HQ which I've recalibrated manually. What is working for my monitor might not working for your monitor. Try the author's (piterrrxd) suggestions.

@piterrrxd
Congrats on 10k downloads! You really deserve it!

1. Do I need to copy SweetFX files into game folder or can I store them in separate folder ?
2. Can I use clean SFX 1.5.1 or dedicated one ?
3. Can I use this preset wit SFX 1.4 ?

piterrrxd
9 Jun 09:25 CEST

@mitch 'cause without DPX game have less contrast. You can add more curves (#define Curves_contrast) or turn on DPX again, but with less blend (#define Blend). With this preset the game is a little darker, but on a properly
calibrated screen, everything is visible.

mitch91
9 Jun 09:16 CEST

i have to delete DPX it makes everything light and whiteish, any idea why?

Wow dude, 10k downloads, this is officially one of the best presets ever to be on this site, congrats my man.

piterrrxd

@EroticSushi you can also turn off DPX, this option darken the image.

BTW - over 10k downloads :D

piterrrxd
8 Jun 18:33 CEST

@xplode123 yes.
@EroticSushi you can edit line "#define Curves_contrast" to less value if game is to dark on your screen.

Thanks, but I've managed to tweak piterrrxd's preset and got the brightness level I needed without sacrificing the preset quality. I stick with piterrrxd's.

Verrenus
5 Jun 21:07 CEST

@JT83 It's a little bit more complicated than that, since there are multiple settings affecting brightness. I think it correct this in my version of piterrrxd's preset. Why not give it a shot and see if doesn't fix the problem?

The game looks darker than the screenies in my monitor despite the brightness was set to 100. What part of vignette or other part of SweetFX I should change to increase brightness without sacrificing the quality of the preset? I just need brightness boost, not anything else.

@PomPom I did an update of this preset, if you're interested. Try it out, you might like it! :)

@wael I agree, this preset brought the game as close to the E3 2012 trailer graphics as possible. Congrats once again to piterrrxd for a damn fine piece of work! :D

Done guys! Enjoy!(http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1723/)

By the way, I have made some subtle changes to piterrrxd's preset to make it less oversaturated. Chromatic aberration is also disabled because I found it to turn white text green in some places!

BradleyW

Yes please upload the exact text file. Maybe I can get chromatic aberration to work. :)

@Verrenus Thanks buddy! I have downlaoded the Notepad+ program and I wasn't sure which parts of piterrrxd SweetFX_settings I'm meant to copy into k'putt's! Would you mind uploading the text file? Then i think i'm all sorted - the rest I have been able to do! :)

piterrrxd
31 May 16:32 CEST

Its chromatic aberration defect. You can disable it - just open preset file and edit value in line "#define USE_CA" from "1" to "0".

fabulous job! But there is one problem. When I look ahead, at the bottom left of the screen and a thin blue line. What could be the problem and how to fix it? sorry for my language.

Verrenus
31 May 15:46 CEST

@Milamber you copy K-putt's SweetFX folder, 64-bit dxgi.dll, SweetFX_preset and SweetFX_settings and then you MANUALLY copy each individual setting from piterrrxd's settings into K-putt's settings! Make sure to use Notepad++ for editing K-putt's setting files, because regular Notepad is known to make them not work upon editing! :P

@HentaiKamen

Same here. Using Windows 8.1 and RadeonPro, with K-Putts SweetFX Files and piterrrxd's preset. I too have to disable Chromatic Abberation to get the profile working. I also noticed something. It would seem GUASSIAN and Split Screen also don't function under RadeonPro.

@piterrrxd
If we run without GUASSIAN and Chromatic Abberation, will we notice a loss in graphics fidelity? Do you have any idea how we could fix the issue?

Thank you very much.

HentaiKamen
31 May 13:08 CEST

@lastbreathe
I had no errors while launching game.
I have SweetFX in my custom folder on D: drive. I think d3d11.dll is an system component, try updating DirectX, vcredist (just google: vcredist) and graphic drivers. I'm running on latest beta driver form AMD 14.6 and there are NV's Watch_Dogs drivers too.

HentaiKamen
31 May 10:21 CEST

This setting didn't work for me. I had SweetFX ON but it didn't change a think. After many different combination i found the cause of my problem. It was Chromatic Abberation . Turning off this option solved my problem.

SweetFX downloaded for here "whitout letterbox" version.
I have win 8.1 so im using RadeonPro which make SweetFX work on this OS.

lastbreathe

Oops typo... i meant overwrite K-putt's settings file with piterrrxd's SweetFX_Settings.txt preset file? :)

Milamber
31 May 03:56 CEST

@ Thanks Verrenus

So to make it clear to me, I do the following:

1. copy K-putt's files
2. overwrite the settings file from piterrrxd by overwriting K-putts?

piterrrxd
30 May 22:46 CEST

Or just change value in "#define USE_BORDER" to 0.

Verrenus
30 May 22:32 CEST

@valerio or you can simply change #define border_width float2(1,50) to #define border_width float2(1,1) :P

piterrrxd

@valerio i add optional version without letterbox.

valerio07

Congrats on your work with the preset by the way, piterrrxd! It's my absolute favourite for Watch_Dogs so far! \m/

Verrenus
30 May 13:05 CEST

Here's the kicker: you don't need all of K-putt's files to run his version of SweetFX for any one game! Rather, the archive that you download from the link I provided in my previous link contains all possible combinations of the files needed to apply K-putt's version of SweetFX to any DirectX game. For using it with Watch_Dogs, for example, you only need the SweetFX folder, the 64-bit dxgi.dll file and the SweetFX_preset and the SweetFX_settings text files. Then you simply input piterrrxd's preset values into K-putt's SweetFX_setting text file and you're done! After that, you can use the "Insert" or "Ins" key on your keyboard to switch K-putt's SweetFX on and off, so you know you got it working right! :P

piterrrxd
30 May 09:34 CEST

@Milamber yes, the same SweetFX files you can find in Omnipotus preset.
@Sekta i just add small chromatic aberration, it's realistic camera lens effect.

Milamber
30 May 08:29 CEST

@Verrenus thanks!

Quick question, is that link you provided all the files you use with this preset? If not, any chance you can upload what you use please?

Verrenus
30 May 03:56 CEST

Guys, just get K-putt's version of SweetFX (which has x64 support and all of the shaders released so far) and just tweak the settings to match piterrrxd's preset. I've been personally running his preset on K-putt's SweetFX without any crashes for hours and the game looks absolutely stellar! Just get this version of SweetFX: Ge.tt - http://ge.tt/4CpDyZt/v/0 and then if you're having trouble running the new preset just leave a comment here and I will help you guys out! :D

29 May 22:12 CEST

Hey, I've been using your preset since you released it and today I decided to update to the new version. At first I could not get it to work and then I found the problem. Disabling Chromatic Aberration allowed it to start up. Just so you know im using the workaround for Windows 8.1 from here http://www.overclock.net/t/1485750/how-to-use-sweetfx-in-windows-8-1
I downloaded the custom files on that site but it says that it has the Chromatic Aberration shaders so I don't know what went wrong. I would also like to say that the new black border you added is not all that good and I personally removed it. Amazing preset nonetheless, thanks.

Milamber
29 May 10:28 CEST

I found the fix for the crashes which someone stated earlier. It's the DLL's that have been used in this preset. The game uses a X64 exe and the DLL's for this preset are not compatible, the fix was to use DLL's from here: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1675/ and then use piterrrxd's settings file. The only problem is, the game now looks different. Piterrrxd, please can you use the dll files from the URL I mentioned above and then work your magic to make the game look like the screenshots?

Milamber
29 May 09:25 CEST

I am getting frequent crashes though, not sure if its the preset, the location of the sweetfx install that I've used is:

G:\Watch_Dogs\bin\

The watch_dogs.exe is located here, would this definitely be the right spot for the sweetfx to be?

Milamber
29 May 09:09 CEST

This is by far the best preset from all those listed to date. This is what the game should have looked like!
