Yeah dude that hasn't been continued for quite some time now. It's not surprising to me that it doesn't work (In Windows 10? You said you updated, maybe Windows 8.1?) You can always use Reshade solutions.
Reshade has a Framework, SweetFX 2.0 package, and a MasterEffect Package (and custom!) all under one roof.
