A Real Beauty v1.2

Preset for Watch_Dogs

Shader used: SweetFX 1.5
Preset description:
A Real Beauty v1.2 Sweet FX 1.5 preset for Watch Dogs video here >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yYsOfcln54 video 2 here (ultra settings, txaa2, 720p) >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BOomIcKZv4 i wanted to make a more colourful and brighter daylight / darker shadows and therefore more realistic visual impression with crisper colors and lighting. v1.2 update: i adjusted the effect in many aspects to make it look even more color crispy, brighter daylight and added HDR (makes the sky and clouds more colourful). done all that without adding more saturation (even dissaturated the whole effect so it matches the new settings) and reduced the vibrance to keep it not too saturated. what has been done: - adjusted the color curve (not with curves in the settings, so leave it at 0) for shadows, mids and highlights very slightly to a more blue light and therefore less green (roads) and red (light shadows at night). - more vivid colors adjusted to their brightness levels (more vivid highlights and midtones, darker shadows) - light bloom - sharper textures - light black film borders - HDR Effect added, sky at day and night scenes even more colorful without changing the brightness or saturation. after i studied digital film arts and directx i have been working at a tv station, then a broadcasting company for 12 years and have been doing movie trailers, color corrections and video gfx. i hope you enjoy the look of this preset. some nice feedback is always appreciated - x-ray@the-x-ray.de REQUIREMENTS: you need Sweet FX 1.5 for this to work, you can get it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23364/? Copy all Sweet FX Files and directories into your Bin Directory where the Watch Dogs EXE File is located. Then copy the SweetFX_Settings_Watch_Dogs_A_Real_Beauty_v12.txt that you can download here with "Download Preset" to the same directory and rename it to "SweetFX_Settings_Watch_Dogs_A_Real_Beauty_v12.txt" Change the line in SweetFX_preset.txt to: #include "SweetFX_Settings_Watch_Dogs_A_Real_Beauty_v12.txt" (without ..\..\) If Sweet FX does not work or you get an app crash at game startup, go into file properties of Watch Dogs EXE and select Compatibility Mode for "Vista Service Pack 2" and "Start as Administrator". You may need to replace the dlls for Sweet Fx with x64 dlls for Sweet FX, which you can find on the internet.

x-ray, a sincere thank you. Tried ur settings. The streets do show up now and the mod color difference in minimal. Thank you for the early x-mas gift.

Cheers.

hello shafat,

i looked into it, it's related to the shadow settings in lift gamma gain AND the new HDR Effect.

i tried several settings but as the streets are dark grey in the menu, changing anything so you can see them like normal changes the whole sweet fx profile for the in game graphics to normal Shadows and Lighting, so it destroys the effect of the mod.

as i am not the programmer of the game itself i cannot deactivate the effect on the menu screens.

and i can not change the settings so the mod still looks good. so i am not able to make an updated version that has a good street view on the menu map and a good mod quality.

what you can do is change the setting yourself, if you prefer the streets on the map to the mod quality in-game. you will have to live with a not so conrastful picture quality in-game and therefore the effect in general is not as good, but if you prefer seeing the streets on the map it's a solution to loose the shadow effect nearly completely.

you would have to change these two settings to the following values to have the least impact on the in-game quality.

Lift Gamma Gain settings
#define RGB_Lift float3(0.990, 0.990, 0.990)

HDR settings
#define HDRPower 1.0

i hope i could help you with this. you will still have the other effects like more vibrant colors, hdr for brightness and color corrections. so you will just see a difference in the contrast of the brightness and dark colors (Shadows).

hello x-ray. Loving the new settings. However, I realized the menu map doesnt show the streets (too dark). the only way to fix is to disable liftgammagain but that kinda breaks the mod and causes flashing screen, Could you elaborate?

v1.2 update is here.

i waited for quite some time and changed a lot, you won't see a lot of difference on first sight, but that's ok. i didn't want to make it even mre saturated and had to play a lot with the settings to get what i want. an even more color crisper and brighter daylight /darker nights effect without raising the saturation or turning up brightness so everything goes gray or white. i think it went pretty good again. i also added HDR Effect, which you can see best on the more colorful sky and more contrasted nights.
once again.. enjoy!

Yeah, it's ok so. And for sure better than the original game, I only wanted to say my thoughts ;)

until then enjoy v1.0, i think it looks great like it is already ;)

sadly there is no possibility to divide between day and night cycle, because the colors are very vivid at night, so i could have turned them down when there is not much brightness in the picture. i will also think that over, maybe there's a trick with other graphic options..

thanks dennis.

i tried with less colour because i had the same thougts, but the effect and realistic feeling got lost then, so i readded it just as much to get the impression allover that i wanted to create, even more color would have really been too much though. i thought about adding a bit of gain to brightness levels, so it get's a bit more out of the mid colors and make the picture not that saturated, but it would be brighter then. i'll try that in the next weeks.

Well done! I think I'll be using them. Maybe a bit less colour...
